Nakti Apinn

Nakti Apinn - Icelandic salmon fly

Nakti Apinn

Nakti Apinn, which translates to “The Naked Monkey,” was originally tied using colobus monkey hair, but as the species is now protected, goat hair is used instead. One of the most important elements of the fly is the wing — it should be five to six times longer than the tube and kept very sparse, with no more than around 20 hairs. When a fish takes this fly, it’s a hard, decisive take.
